Inpatient & Residential Services

Your care may include time in our La Crosse Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit or residential treatment centers. No matter your situation, you will experience supportive care from our experienced team in a healing environment.

Inpatient Behavioral Health

Our 30-bed La Crosse Campus facility provides behavioral health services for patients ages 13 and older. Our facility offers:

  • Private rooms and separate units for adults, adolescents and patients who need specialized care close to home.
  • Abundant natural light, warm colors and access to healing outdoor courtyards with green space and water features.
  • Consultation and treatment with other primary and specialty care departments.
  • Staff committed to compassionate, comprehensive care for children and adults from western Wisconsin, southeastern Minnesota and northeast Iowa.

Residential Services

Your care includes access to our Unity Houses, a La Crosse-based residential chemical dependency treatment program for men and women, ages 18 and older. Our team can teach you how to live drug and alcohol-free lifestyles, while you receive care in a eight-bed men's house and eight-bed women's house.

For more information, including admission requirements, call (608) 775-8689.

Unity House is a service of Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

If you don’t need inpatient care, but still experience significant mood or emotional changes, our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an option. You can learn coping skills through outpatient therapy, daily assessments, education and support. Average program participation is 7 to 10 days.

PHP is offered 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday in Onalaska. To see if you meet the criteria for PHP, call (608) 775-7987.
