An artist with heart

Winona Senior High School student, Haily Klink is a talented artist who is always looking for new ways to develop her drawing skills."Her sketchbook is just beautiful," says proud mom Ann Dingman.

"I don't know where she gets her talent." Haily's father Greg Klink agrees, noting what made their family most happy "was seeing how excited Haily was" at winning the 2008 Children's Miracle Network® Holiday Card contest.

"We believe so much in CMN," says Ann. "I've seen it help so many people we know, and touch their lives. It's just a great, great program."

The Klink family has had their own share of medical worries this year. Haily discovered the contest entry form while waiting for one of her regular appointments with Andrea Winters, PA-C, a pediatric cardiology specialist at Gundersen.

Diagnosed with a heart rhythm disorder known as supraventricular tachycardia, Haily will soon undergo a procedure that should enable her to resume her normally active lifestyle. "She's had to slow down on things she likes to do, like hiking or riding her bike," says her mom. "It's been hard for Haily to even go upstairs without becoming out of breath."

Proceeds from the card sales helps support services to children and their families who are coping with medical challenges due to illness or injury. Empire Screen Printing in Onalaska is a proud partner in the CMN Holiday Card project, donating time and materials to bring each year's design to life.
