Ms. Blevins has practiced children’s law for twenty-five years, beginning with her work as a court appointed children’s ad litem in private, custodial cases. During the first half of her career, she also took court appointments in civil child protection cases, representing a variety of different parties. After leaving her private practice, she served for 11 years as a prosecutor, representing the State of Oklahoma in civil child protection matters. She also prosecuted both child physical and sexual abuse felonies. For the past two years she served as an appellate prosecutor, writing criminal appeal briefs on behalf of the State. In addition to her prosecutorial duties, she also has had the privilege of teaching for the last ten years, serving on the faculty of Child First Oklahoma and lecturing for both private entities and state agencies, including various law enforcement organizations.

Ms. Blevens graduated from Baylor University School of Law in Texas. While working in Texas she served as the District Attorney’s liaison to the Lamar County Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Team, the Lamar County Drug Endangered Children Task Force, and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Paris, Board of Directors. Her board appointments in Oklahoma included serving as District Attorney’s liaison to the McCurtain County Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Team, the McCurtain County Sex Offenders’ Registration Multidisciplinary Task Force, the McCurtain County Sexual Abuse Response Team (SART), and the McCurtain County Community Coordinated Response (CCR) Team. Laurie currently resides in Arizona and joined the Gundersen NCPTC Speakers Bureau in 2018.
