Gundersen Health System residents and fellows work hard to enrich the lives of patients and their families, and serve their communities. It's important our residents and fellows receive this same level of enrichment to remain healthy, active and ready to provide care.
Gundersen offers residents and fellows a comprehensive wellness program that includes financial incentives, fitness center discounts, an Employee Assistance Program and access to a variety of community programs and volunteer activities.
You can learn more about Gundersen's corporate wellness initiatives by emailing email@example.com or calling (608) 775-2081.
Here is a sample of community programs, activities and volunteer opportunities available to residents and fellows:
La Crosse, Wis. is located in the "Driftless Region," marked by soaring bluffs and scenic river valleys, including the mighty Mississippi. Numerous outdoor activities are just a short drive (or walk, or bike ride) away. The Outdoor Recreation Alliance is a great place to learn more about hiking, biking, fishing and other activities.
The natural beauty of the area draws visitors, but events and people in the area often cause visitors to stay a while. Festivals, food, museums and more make the La Crosse area a vibrant experience for all ages. Check out the La Crosse County Convention and Visitors Bureau or Downtown Mainstreet, Inc. to help plan a day trip, a night out or add an event to your social calendar.
The area is alive with arts and culture. The Weber Center for the Performing Arts is home to the La Crosse Community Theater and Viterbo University productions. The Pump House Regional Arts Center includes three free art galleries, a theater and classroom space for art education.
Gundersen's vision is to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Part of this service is to be involved in a variety of community organizations and efforts locally, regionally and even globally.
The Great Rivers United Way is a great place to start for local volunteer opportunities. Their Ugetconnected portal connects prospective volunteers with agencies and events in need of helping hands.
Gundersen Global Partners was created in 2008 to expand Gundersen's care beyond traditional borders to develop strong partnerships and healthier communities. With volunteer opportunities that include mentoring La Crosse elementary school students, supporting the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and traveling abroad to serve people in Ethiopia and Nicaragua, Global Partners exists on core values of sustainability, relationships, volunteerism and stewardship.
Steppin' Out in Pink is the area's largest walk for local breast cancer research and services. Regularly drawing more than 5,000 participants, Steppin' Out in Pink relies on volunteers to ensure a great day-of-event experience.
The La Crosse Area Family YMCA and Gundersen have a long relationship to improve the health and well-being of our communities. The Y welcomes short and long-term volunteers to support its programs to create strong and healthy kids, adults and families.
