The first phase of development included the Cleary Kumm Simulation and Training Lab, which consists of a mock operating room (OR) and a simulation lab equipped with four simulation tables. Using the OR integration software, the physician who is working in the OR is able to stream live video to:
- The simulation lab next door where students are working at their own stations
- Regional facilities where training can be occurring simultaneously
- The conference center on the fourth floor of the ICE House
With many nationally known physicians employed at Gundersen Health System, the Simulation and Training Lab and conference center can be used for programs featuring Gundersen physicians. Additionally, surgeons renowned in other specialities can be brought in to provide training or for conferences.
As the program grows, the hope is to add an inpatient hospital room, a trauma training room and robotics training space.
