Rehab Patient Stories

Ben Fiers was in a bad accident Dec. 24, 2011, and spent 6 weeks in a coma with a traumatic brain injury. Thanks to lots of hard work and his Rehab "family," he's back to doing the things he loves like hunting and fishing.
On Christmas Eve 2011, Annie Fiers got the phone call every parent dreads. Her son Ben was in a bad accident. When he came to Gundersen Rehab, Ben couldn't walk, talk, swallow, feed himself or move the right side of his body.

On Jan. 5, after a normal day at work, Dave Knutson had a stroke which caused paralysis on his right side. It wasn't an easy journey, but today he can pretty much do anything he wants, including getting married.
Rollie Hoff had a multiple-embolic stroke in 2006. He's lucky to be alive. As a guy who always needs something to do, Rollie is back to work on his farm and looking forward to spending the future with his family.

While riding a 4-wheeler in 2008, Tom Nash injured his spinal cord. Rehab was hard and scary at first, but he knew if he didn't try his hardest, he wouldn't make progress.
