Living your best life means you take care of yourself to stay healthy and happy. It is important to note that taking care of yourself is not selfish.

Move your body - Pay attention to how your body feels and move your body each day. Some days you may be up for a run or going to the gym, other days your body might appreciate gardening or a stroll through the park. Life is about balance; don't feel like you have to push yourself every day. Your body needs time to recover.

Sleep - This is when your body repairs itself. If you are not getting enough quality sleep day after day your body and mind will begin to struggle. Turn your bedroom into a restful oasis by staying away from electronics before bed. Instead, listen to music, read a book or take a bath. These activities will help your mind tell your body that it is time to wind down and relax for the night. Join our Sleep Challenge this summer to help improve your sleep.

Eat well - Shop the outside walls of the grocery store. Eat whole foods, such as fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts and seeds. Avoid processed foods such as candy, chips and sweetened beverages.

Positivity - Spend time with people who influence your life in a positive way. You are impacted by the people you spend the most time with. Take a moment to assess your relationships. If you don't like the direction your life is headed consider having a conversation with those closest to you or distancing yourself from the negativity. Don't waste your time associating with people who pull you down and put you in a negative mood.

Breathe - Take a few moments to sit quietly and focus on your breath. Inhale slowly and deeply to fill up your lungs, and exhale until you are all the way empty. Repeat this 3-5 times. Stopping to breathe is a great way to ease stress and anxiety when a situation arises. You may also choose to practice your breathing every morning or evening as a form of meditation.

Know when to say no - You can't do everything; nobody can. Sometimes we just need to say no to extra tasks and responsibilities. If you can't say no altogether, consider delegating or offering to help with a small part of the responsibility.

Treat yourself - You work hard and should treat yourself once in a while. Have a spa day, enjoy that piece of chocolate cake or enjoy a night out with friends. Life is too short to be strict with yourself all of the time. Make sure you enjoy the journey.
