Registration is closed.

The registration deadline is Friday, October 13, 2017. Registrations will not be accepted after this date. Advance registration is required. Registration fees include meals, snacks and certificate. An email will be sent the week of the conference to registered participants with parking information and other details about the conference.

  • $35 for Non-Gundersen registered nurses
  • $50 for Non-Gundersen physician assistants and nurse practitioners

Intended Audience: This course is designed for physicians, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and other medical care providers who are required to maintain and enhance their knowledge of not only the specialty but related disciplines impacted.

Purpose: Provide education, evidence-based research, resources, and tools to enhance clinical practice for healthcare professionals involved in the care of stroke patients.

Course Objectives: 

At the conclusion of the conference, participants will be able to:

  • Identify current clinical practice for: 
    • Stroke prevention 
    • Acute stroke treatment
    • Wake-up stroke 
    • Cardio embolic stroke
    • Post-stroke depression 
    • DOAC (direct oral anticoagulation) use and reversal 
    • Evaluation of dizziness as a stroke symptom
  • Evaluate recent research and advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of stroke and TIA.
  • Analyze decision-making related to acute stroke treatment including alteplase and endovascular intervention.
  • Identify how quality improvement projects at GHS have impacted patient care and nursing satisfaction.
  • Describe the role of palliative care in the stroke population.

Accreditation: Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation Inc. is accredited by the Wisconsin Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation Inc. designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center Inc. is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This program will award up to 7.0 nursing contact hours upon completion.

Certificates: Certificates will be emailed to attendees within four weeks of completion of the on-line evaluation.

If the 2017 Stroke Conference is postponed or cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund of registration fees will be provided. Gundersen Medical Foundation Inc. will not be responsible for any related travel costs to the conference.
