The Global Partners program is funded through philanthropy and fueled by volunteers! Many individuals and businesses support the activities of the program through their ongoing financial and volunteer support. Additionally, several fundraising events take place throughout the year to raise funds for the healthcare, educational and community development activities in each of our partner communities. CAKE POP SALE: Thank you to everyone who participated in the Cake Pop fundraiser on February 13, 2015! Cake pops sold out in 3 hours, raising nearly $2,100 to support the volunteer vision team heading to Nicaragua in November!
Another cake-pop sale is scheduled for Friday, April 3 in the hospital cafeteria from 10am-12noon.
NURSES WEEK FUNDRAISER FOR NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS: In recognition of National Nurses Week May 6-12, you are invited to give a Gundersen nurse a note of thanks and an appreciation gift, for only $5. Your $5 donation will fund scholarships for nurses to participate in a Global Partners trip. These scholarships are awarded to those who may have financial need and would like to join a volunteer trip. Details coming soon for this event!
GLOBAL PARTNERS DINNER AND SILENT AUCTION: Save the date! Thursday, September 17, 2015, is the 7th Annual Global Partners Dinner and Wingspan Raffle. The 2015 dinner will focus on the Global Partners-Nicaragua program.
WINE GUYZ FUNDRAISER: Save the date! Wednesday, October 14, 2015, from 6-8pm, at 122 King St. Global Partners will receive 20% of the sale of wine glasses and all tips... past years have raised more than $500, we're hoping to exceed that with a full house of attendees!

WINE GUYZ FUNDRAISER: We need 6-8 individuals willing to be servers for the Wine Guyz Fundraiser on Wed, Oct 14th. Volunteers are needed for 1 hour shifts (6-7pm or 7-8pm). Volunteers will take orders and serve wine, appetizers and sandwiches to the patrons. Global Partners will receive 20% of the sale of wine glasses and all tips from 6-8pm that evening.
VOLUNTEERS TO SORT DONATED MEDICAL SUPPLIES: Global Partners is looking for 1-2 individuals who have a clinical background to help sort donated medical supplies.
VOLUNTEER SERVICE TRIPS: Several trips take place throughout the year to each of our partner communities, each with a unique focus! Please click on the page for each site that has information about volunteering in order to learn more about the trip dates, cost, roles needed, and other information specific to that site.
Occasionally, presentations or informational meetings are scheduled to provide updates on activities in our partner communities and an overview of recent trips. These presentations are open to anyone interested in participating in a Global Partners volunteer service trip - Gundersen Health System employees as well as general community members. No need to RSVP to attend - just come as you are!
- Tuesday, March 31 from 12:15-1pm in the Overholt Auditorium. Volunteers Dr. Dana Benden, Dr. Deb Simon and Dr. Kate Richmond will share updates from the November 2014 & March 2015 Global Partners trips! Projects highlighted during this presentation include Cervical Cancer and Helping Babies Breathe trainings.
- Thursday, May 7 from 12:15-1pm in the Overholt Auditorium. Volunteer Dr. Jenn Gipp will share stories from the Vision Team from November 2014.
- Wednesday, May 7 from 12:15-1pm in the Overholt Auditorium. Volunteers from the 2015 Ethiopia team will share their stories and experiences! This team conducted work with a focus on general surgery, podiatry, vision screening, dental care, Ob/Gyn care, information technology and sewing.
PINE RIDGE PRESENTATIONS:
- Wednesday, June 3 from 12:15-1pm in the Overholt Auditorium. Volunteers from the Spring 2015 Pine Ridge teams will share their experiences! Projects highlighted will include the First Aid Fair in reservation schools, physical exams provided to Lakota youth and specialty clinics.
