The first step to becoming a Gundersen volunteer is a 20-30 minute pre-interview with a Volunteer Services staff member. During this time, staff will share with you information about the volunteer program, current volunteer opportunities, and discuss your interests, skills and schedule. If a match is found for a volunteer position, you will be asked to complete an application and other needed forms.
All volunteers are required to attend Gundersen’s orientation. The session is designed to educate volunteers and staff members about issues concerning Gundersen Health System. Volunteer responsibilities, expectations and benefits will also be discussed at orientation.
On your first scheduled day of volunteering, Volunteer Services staff will help you find a uniform, make sure you received a photo ID, show you how to fill in your time card and walk with you to your volunteer area. A staff member or trained volunteer in the area you are placed will provide training.
