Breast Cancer Research

Research is a critical part of the Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care’s current and future success. The research being performed through Gundersen Medical Foundation has an impact on early breast cancer detection and diagnosis. It brings new treatments and diagnostic options for patients being treated in the Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care.

Part of the reason why Gundersen is able to conduct research is thanks to the Norman L. Gillette, Jr. Research Fellowship. The Center’s namesake, Norma Vinger and her husband Don, together with their family and the family of Norm Gillette, Jr., decided to make a major gift to endow a research fellowship named in honor of her brother. Having lost her brother to cancer and being a breast cancer survivor herself, she wanted to honor him by furthering cancer research. Matching gifts from Gundersen Medical Foundation help fully fund this research fellowship endowment.
