Gundersen Health System Unity Houses are inpatient chemical dependency treatment programs specifically designed for men and women, ages 18 and older.
The 12-bed men's house and 8-bed women's house are both located in comfortable homes in La Crosse neighborhoods.
The primary goal of treatment is to teach men and women how to live chemically free lifestyles. Licensed counselors, registered nurses, a psychologist, clinical supervisor and counseling services technicians (many of whom have gone through the program) provide care.
Treatment components include:
- Education on the disease concept
Identifying relapse triggers
Developing a stable and supportive recovery environment
Addressing any issues that may increase relapse potential
Inpatient chemical dependency treatment is covered by most insurance and many county-funded agencies. Halfway house beds are also available at both facilities after completion of inpatient chemical dependency treatment.
Admission requirements include:
- Chemical dependency assessment (completed in last 90 days)
Individual must be medically stable
